Wow, I think it’s absolutely imerpative that I read this book:
DAILY AFFLICTIONS:
The Agony of Being Connected to Everything in the Universe
A dark, twisted, existential manifesto posing as a book of daily inspiration.
Revolutionizing the best-selling genre, this thinking man’s parody hijacks the format of daily affirmations, but offers a different message: only in paradox, truth; only in darkness, light; only in affliction, affirmation. These “daily afflictions” offer readers inspiration, practical advice, and food for thought, as they navigate the jungle of existential terror that begins anew each day.
We follow the fictional Brother Void on a spiritual journey, both profound and hilarious, into self, family, love, career, death–and finally, Enlightenment. We learn to “listen to our inner critic,” appreciate “the nurturing power of dysfunctional families,” “love the wrong person,” “succeed at failure,” “embrace our inner corpse,” and finally withstand the “agony of being connected to everything in the Universe.”
Part spiritual autobiography, part ironic meditation, this tragi-comic guide to life’s sublime predicaments will elevate and educate the spirit.
The truth will set you free, Brother Void reminds us, but first it will hurt like hell.

Now you got THAT right.. “the truth will set you free, but first it will hurt like hell..”
That happens to be one of the most honest statements I have heard yet. It is SOOOO true. I did recently finish Michael Crighton’s (sp?) State of Fear that was recommended. I think if EVERYONE read that book, no one would believe in global warming anymore. It described exactly what I mentioned on my post about it, AND it backed it up with scientific (real ones) articles (it cited its references all through the book and at the end).

Hummm, interesting. You are really on this global warning kick aren’t you? Hhhee. Sorry my leaning towards the light post was so vague. Lately, all of my creative energy has been poured into my master’s project… that, and you know, fighting space droids with my light saber…

Beware of the dahleks.. oh wait, that’s from Dr. Who right? hehe Well, I guess the only reason I keep thinking about the global warming issue is because at the grocery store that my pharmacy is in, they push us to NOT give out bags to customers. Instead they want us to encourage people to bring in their canvas bags. Plus, since the city recycles, but won’t take back plastic grocery bags, my company has put up huge bins and they recycle bags from any and all stores themselves. Plus they give you a bag credit…like 5 or 10 cents for every bag you bring from home to use. It’s not so much about being into, it’s just in my face daily LOL

At the moment though, I am reading “Dreams in the Key of Blue” by John Philpin. It’s been pretty interesting so far.
It is about a retired forensic psychologist that used to work with the police, etc. to set up a profile type for serial killers based off of the killings of people. Well, he comes out of retirement to teach at a women’s college in a small New England town. All of a sudden, they have a serial killer killing women that even have roommates. He’s been asked to help out with the case… and that’s enough to get me hooked LOL.
